INSA-SERB Photo and Film Competition on 'Science through My Eyes'

The Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi is a premier Academy of India with a rich legacy (www.insaindia.res.in) in promoting science. It functions as an autonomous institution of the Dept. Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), New Delhi is a statutory body to support basic research (www.serb.gov.in). 
The two institutions have come together to organize a photo/painting and a one-minute-film competitions. The idea is that in addition to their specialization, people should be able to see, understand and appreciate science around them. A critical look will help in fostering and promoting the scientific spirit, interest in research and will encourage creative abilities. The theme for the competition is ‘Science through My Eyes’. Any suitable subtheme under this main theme may be chosen. Some examples of subthemes are science in the lab/ kitchen/ sports/ hospital/ home/ at work. The creation may include any work in above forms related to the covid19 virus, healthy life, geo-heritage, health, fascinating space AND any subtheme covered under the main theme ‘Science though My Eyes’.

National Innovation Contest 2020: The IIC National Innovation Contest 2020 was announced during the month of February 2020. The 2nd edition of IIC-National Innovation Contest (2020) is currently under progress for the students from IIC-Institutes to take part in this 360-degree innovative and experiential learning process.

A 360-degree approach of Learning: The National Innovation Contest is going to provide 360-degree cycle of learning and understanding the process of innovation and start-up. It is designed in a way that, each team will traverse a path from problem identification and ideation to building business model and finally entering the phase of Enterprise development in a time period of one year.

Student Team Size and Eligibility: Students are studying from UG to PhD in the IIC-Institutes (list of IIC-institutes can be referred here) eligible to participate.  1. The topic of competition will be sent on registered email and available on ISRO website on stipulated day. 
2. A3 size white paper or Chart paper should be used. 
3. Use water, wax or pencils colours for drawing. 
4. Write registration number in the top right corner of the drawing paper. 
5. Writing the participant name, school name etc. on the drawing paper shall make the participation invalid. 
6. The Participant / parent to take clear photograph or scan the drawing and upload it at the given link on ISRO website. 
7. Photograph in .pdf or .jpeg format only. 
8. Put name of file as registration number.

MyGov.in Annular Solar Eclipse Quiz - 2020

Vigyan Prasar (VP) is a national institute for science and technology communication established in 1989 under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. It promotes and propagates a scientific and rational outlook in society; nurtures interest in science, encourages creativity and develops capacity for informed decision making. The principal objective of VP is to popularize science to every nooks and corners of India.
India is going to witness an amazing, rare celestial phenomenon of Annular Solar Eclipse on 21st June 2020. Vigyan Prasar would like to utilize this opportunity to popularize science in general and astronomy in particular among the people. Thus, Vigyan Prasar initiated an awareness drive. The goal of the drive is to encourage people to watch the eclipse in a safe manner and to foster an interest in astronomy.

To increase the awareness about the Solar Eclipses, Vigyan Prasar is organizing an online quiz competition in coordination with MyGov.in from 5th June to 15th June, 2020. The quiz is of 2 minutes during which 10 questions need to be answered.  An E-certificate will be given to all the participants. Top hundred winners will be awarded with the publications of VP.

In particular, countries with such assets have been able to efficiently make emergency cash transfers to vulnerable groups—such as women and girls, the poor, informal workers, migrant workers, people living in remote areas, and refugees. 

The Mission Billion Challenge seeks solutions to how countries can increase their efforts to further support these groups—who often lack smartphones, computers and broadband internet access—so they can access services and cash transfers with minimal health risks.
