"Magic of Hands" - Painting Competition for School Students

A national level painting competition on the theme "Magic of Hands".
The competition is being organised in connection with 2th Triennial Congress of International Federation of Societies for Surgery of Hand (IFSSH) and the ninth Triennial Congress of the International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (IFSHT) to be held in New Delhi in March.
Theme
Magic of Hands
The entries should be on the "magic of hands" e.g a mother's hand gently patting the child, a soldier's strong hands with a gun on the border, the mudras of a dancer ...

Who can participate?
The competition is open for the students of Class VI to IX.

How to Participate
A maximum of 20 students are invited to participate from one school. The students also need to give a title to their painting by penning a few lines about what made them draw it.

The participating school should fill the registration form that is available under participation kit. Maximum of 20 entries from a school is invited. The completed painting along with the registration form should be couriered across to the Campaign Managers so as to reach on or before 12th of February 2013 (more details under participation kit which can be downloaded here).

Poster Paints, Water Colours, Pastel Colours, Wax/Plastic Crayons and Sketch Pens are allowed
The painting canvas should be of the size 42 cm (w) X 30 cm (h)
The Panting should have a “Title” as well as few lines on what inspired the painting

Top 50 paintings will be selected by a panel of eminent judges. This will be communicated to the winners by 15th of February. The shortlisted students will then attend an authentication camp where they will reproduce their paintings.

Prizes
Rs. 5 lakh as prize money. for the winning school
The best artist gets Rs. 20,000
Rs. 10,000 each for the next 49 students.

‘On the spot’ Essay Writing Competition-2013 for Post-Graduate Students of Statistics

As part of the celebration of Statistics Day on the on 29th June, 2013, the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation will organize an essay competition on subjects relevant to Statistics. The interested Post Graduate Students of Statistics currently studying in recognized university/colleges are invited to participate in an ‘on the spot’ essay writing competition.

1. Two topics of essay would be given on the spot and the essay should be written on one of the topics, of a length of about 5000 words in three hours time

2. Each eligible participant will be asked through a separate communication to come to the nearest  regional/Sub Regional Office of National Sample Survey Office for writing the essay. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the competition. The list of the Regional/Sub Regional Offices may be seen in the Ministry’s website http://www.mospi.nic.in (National Sample Survey Office\ Field Operations Division (FOD)\ (Telephone Directory). Nearest Regional Office may be mentioned in the application form.

3. The willing participants should submit their application (in duplicate) in the prescribed format (the application format can be downloaded from the Ministry’s website http://www.mospi.nic.in) through the Head of the Department of the College/University/Institute to the Additional Director General (Social Statistics Division), Central Statistics Office, Ministry of Statistics & PI, West Block-8, Wing-6, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-110066. The Competition will be held on 17th February, 2013 (Sunday) at 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM and the last date for the receipt of applications will be 25th January, 2013 (Friday).

4. The essays will be evaluated by a Committee constituted by MOSPI on the basis of Contents, originality of ideas, sequence of presentation and writing skills. The winners will be notified in writing. A full list of winners will also be published on ministry’s website. 
5.  The following prize will be given to the best selected essays at national level:
First Prize
Rs 15,000/-
Second Prize (2 numbers)
@ Rs. 12,000/- (each)
Third Prize (3 numbers)

6. The winners of the competition will be invited to a function to be organized in New Delhi. The winners coming to the place of function will be entitled to receive actual fares of their to and fro journey through shortest route by rail in AC-III tier, besides their stay arrangement at place of function to be made by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

For the All India Poetry Competition Among School Children 2013


ORGANISER 

1. The Competition is organised by The Poetry Society (India).

COMPETITORS

2. The Competition is open to Indian school children and non-resident Indian students studying in secondary and higher secondary schools in the age group of 12-19.
3. No competitor may win more than one prize.

ADJUDICATION AND PRIZES

4. The poems entered for the Competition will be read by a panel of eminent Indian poets who will judge the entries.

5. The decision of the judges will be final and the organizers will not enter into any correspondence about the results.

6. The first prize will be Rs. 5,000/- in cash.

7. The second prize will be Rs. 3,000/- in cash.

8. There will be a third prize of Rs. 2,000/- and five commendation prizes of Rs. 1,000 each.

9. A list of prize-winners and the prize-winning poems will be uploaded on the website www.indianpoetry.org

10. All entries for the Competition should be submitted by email to hkkaul@gmail.com
11. There will be an entry fee of Rs. 100 per poem. Competitors may submit entries

13. Each entry must be either a poem written in English by the competitor or his/her  translation into English (in verse) of a poem written in any of the recognized Indian languages.

14. Before submitting the entries, the translators should have obtained permission from the authors of the poems for the use of their poems for this competition.

15. Each poem must be an unaided and unpublished work of the competitor. It must not be published or broadcast until the results of this competition are announced.

16. If it has been found that the competitor has copied in full or part a poem of another poet or downloaded in full or part a poem of another poet from the Internet, and submitted as an entry to the All India Poetry Competition Among School Children 2013, suitable/legal action can be taken against the competitor.

17. Entries will be judged without the panel of judges knowing the identity of the competitors. The competitor’s name must not be typed on the poem. 

18. The maximum length of poem should be about 30 lines.

19. Receipt of an entry will not be acknowledged unless a separate self-addressed and stamped envelope marked RECEIPT (School Children – 2013) is enclosed with the entry.

20. The worldwide copyright of each prize-winning or shortlisted poem, and of any other poem selected by the judges for special commendation will remain with the author, but The Poetry Society (India) shall have the unrestricted right to present the poem on television, radio or the stage, or to publish it at the time of the prize-giving, or at any time up to twelve months after the announcement of the results.

21. All competitors shall be deemed to have read and accepted all the conditions of entry for the All-India Poetry Competition Among School Children 2013.

Arogyatharakam Video Fest 2012

In the context of extending School Health Programme, the Department of Health and National Rural Health Mission in consultation with the Department of Education is conducting a competitive documentary video festival for the students of High School and Higher Secondary Schools of Kerala in the government and aided sectors. The programme is named ‘Arogyatharakam Video Fest 2012’.

The objective of the programme is to provide opportunity for the students to develop and communicate their constructs related to healthy living, health promotion and prevention of diseases etc. It is also expected that through this programme the students will get an opportunity to communicate with their peers to enhance health in their living context and to advocate these in their personal, family and community health.

4.    Duration of films should not exceed 10 minutes
5.    Entry form for submitting the script of the documentary shall be made available in the website of C-DIT and NRHM www.arogyatharagamvideofest2012.org.
6.    Selection of scripts will be done by a panel of experts
7.    50 scripts will be selected for competition
8.    Financial support of Rs.15,000/- for making the documentary shall be provided to the schools whose scripts are selected. The amount will be issued to the HM/Principal of the school.
9.    The documentary will be produced with the assistance and co-operation of the Health club in the school. The Teacher-in-charge of the health club will be the nodal person.
10.    From the documentaries made, the best ones will be selected by a panel of experts in the field.
11.    Those winning in the competition will be awarded.
12.    Two days Video Festival shall be organized at Trivandrum, in which winners (First and Second) will be selected.
13.    Prizes for best script, best camera, best editor, best sound and direction will be selected.

GUIDE LINES AND RULES OF THE NATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST
a) No Entry Fee.
 b) Competition is open to all excepting the employees of Photo Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
c) Exhibition will have two sections - Black & White Print (Monochrome) and Colour Print.
d) Prints both Black & White (Monochrome) and Colour to be submitted of size between 15”X12” and 16”X20”.  Entrants can send maximum number of 4 different photographs for each section. The entry should not be mounted.  Photographs to be submitted in the Black & White (Monochrome) Section is to be shot/taken only with the conventional/B&W film.  No digital images for this section will be accepted.
e) No digital manipulation/tampering of original images will be accepted excepting the enhancement of print quality if it is printed in digital lab.
f)  Entrants are required to send a CD along with photograph at high resolution.
g) Each Entry should carry author’s name, nationality, postal address, telephone nos., e-mail  address on the back of the photographs in BLOCK LETTERS.  Entry form may be download from the website www.photodivision.gov.in.
h)  Technical details of time and location where picture taken along with Camera used, exposure, film, lens  i) A brief of the photograph and bio-data of the photographer not more than 100 words each should be attached with the entry.
j) A certificate that all photographs  are work of original nature and taken by the entrant himself/herself on the date & time mentioned is to be enclosed by the entrant. In case of Black & White (Monochrome) a certificate of picture taken with Film only is to be attached   .
k) The entries should be superscripted with the word:  “Entries for the 24th  National Photo Contest” to be addressed to the Director, Photo Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Room No. 723, 7

l) Entries received after the closing date will not be entertained.
m) Photo Division will not be responsible for any damage and loss in transit.
n) Prize Distribution ceremony and the exhibition  of Award Wining Entries and Selected Photographs for exhibition\will be organized initially in Delhi and later the exhibition in some other important locations depending on the response of the local photographers which will be informed to all selected participants.
o) Decision of the judges will be final.  Photo Division reserves the right to use the picture selected for exhibition.
p) The prize will be distributed only  on receipt of the original award wining negatives/  digital images.

National Level Scientific Writing Contest

The National Academy of Sciences, India invites entries (scientific write-up on “Nanotechnology”) from the students of B.Sc./B.Tech./M.B.B.S./B.U.M.S./B.A.S.M. of Indian  Universities by January 25, 2013 for evaluation and further participation (for  selected entries/write-up only) in On the Spot Contest to be held on February 26, 2013 at National Academy of Sciences, India, 5 Lajpatrai Road Allahabad. The idea behind, is to generate scientific temperament among the students and also make them aware about the current scientific and environmental issues. The Rules for Entries/Scientific Write-up on “Nanotechnology” has been given below :

Rules for National Level Scientific Writing Contest 
1. Topic for the Scientific Writing Contest is "Nanotechnology".
2. The Write-up should be either in English or in Hindi; entries be precise and confined to 3000 words only.
3. It should be neatly typed with double space on A4 size paper.
4. Proper attention must be paid on Syntax and Grammar.
5. The participants are requested to write an "Abstract" in the beginning of the writeup in approximately 150 words.
6. It would be appreciated if the participants cite the references (if any) in the end of the text, which would not be counted in 3000 words.
7. The participants must write their University/College and Home Addresses along with their telephone number(s) and email I.D. in the end of the write-up.
8. The write-up prepared as per above guidelines be sent  to the Office of the National Academy of Sciences, India by January 25, 2013 on the address given below* through proper channel (duly forwarded by either the Head of the concerned Department or Head of the Institution).
9. 5 best Scientific Write-ups will be selected from entries received in the Academy. The selected students will be invited to participate in "On the Spot Contest” on February 26, 2013 at Allahabad. The participants will have to write on a related topic in 3 hours.
10. Out of these five contestants, finally three would be given cash awards on National Science Day (28th February 2013); and the rest would be given the participation certificates.
11. The Academy will bear the travel expenses (second class train fare) of these five students; and modest arrangement of their stay at Allahabad during these days (26-28, February, 2013) will also be made by the Academy.
