CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
For the All India Poetry Competition Among School Children 2013
ORGANISER
1. The Competition is organised by The Poetry Society (India).
COMPETITORS
2. The Competition is open to Indian school children and non-resident Indian students studying in secondary and higher secondary schools in the age group of 12-19.
3. No competitor may win more than one prize.
ADJUDICATION AND PRIZES
4. The poems entered for the Competition will be read by a panel of eminent Indian poets who will judge the entries.
5. The decision of the judges will be final and the organizers will not enter into any correspondence about the results.
6. The first prize will be Rs. 5,000/- in cash.
7. The second prize will be Rs. 3,000/- in cash.
8. There will be a third prize of Rs. 2,000/- and five commendation prizes of Rs. 1,000 each.
9. A list of prize-winners and the prize-winning poems will be uploaded on the website www.indianpoetry.org
ENTRY
10. All entries for the Competition should be submitted by email to hkkaul@gmail.com
11. There will be an entry fee of Rs. 100 per poem. Competitors may submit entries
by e-mail at hkkaul@gmail.com as many entries as they wish.
12. Each student should forward the entry fees by a Demand Draft made in favour of form. Payment sent by outstation cheques, cash or money order will not be accepted. Payments should be sent to:

13. Each entry must be either a poem written in English by the competitor or his/her translation into English (in verse) of a poem written in any of the recognized Indian languages.
14. Before submitting the entries, the translators should have obtained permission from the authors of the poems for the use of their poems for this competition.
15. Each poem must be an unaided and unpublished work of the competitor. It must not be published or broadcast until the results of this competition are announced.
16. If it has been found that the competitor has copied in full or part a poem of another poet or downloaded in full or part a poem of another poet from the Internet, and submitted as an entry to the All India Poetry Competition Among School Children 2013, suitable/legal action can be taken against the competitor.
17. Entries will be judged without the panel of judges knowing the identity of the competitors. The competitor’s name must not be typed on the poem.
18. The maximum length of poem should be about 30 lines.
19. Receipt of an entry will not be acknowledged unless a separate self-addressed and stamped envelope marked RECEIPT (School Children – 2013) is enclosed with the entry.
20. The worldwide copyright of each prize-winning or shortlisted poem, and of any other poem selected by the judges for special commendation will remain with the author, but The Poetry Society (India) shall have the unrestricted right to present the poem on television, radio or the stage, or to publish it at the time of the prize-giving, or at any time up to twelve months after the announcement of the results.
21. All competitors shall be deemed to have read and accepted all the conditions of entry for the All-India Poetry Competition Among School Children 2013.
