Yunus Centre, in collaboration with YY Ventures, Yunus and You- The YY Foundation and the Catholic University of Zimbabwe, is hosting the Social Business Design Competition and Social Fiction Design Competition to nurture social innovation and entrepreneurship among the next generation of young talent.
LIFE OF A YOUNG PERSON IN THE WORLD OF 2050.
The Social Fiction Design Competition is an exciting global competition looking for students and young people to imagine the life of a young person in the world of 2050. What kind of world do you want to live in Take real social challenges from the world around you and share your fictional solutions! If you imagine it, you can make it happen. Get creative and express yourself by writing, illustration, rhetoric, cinematography, animation or poster presentation.
The Social Fiction Design Competition is open to applicants of all ages.
You have an idea to solve any of the following issues:
Environment and Climate Change, Micro-credit, Agriculture, Technology and Innovation, Transport, Literature, Music, Waste, Circular Economy, Tourism, WASH, Employment, Sports, Health and Well-being, and others
Writing
Short paragraphs that relate to a story about a possible future without social problems.
Rhetoric
A short speech on how the solution on a particular social problem can lead to a new society.
Illustration
Showcase creativity through Drawing or Graphic Designing of their Social Fiction theme.
Animation
Based on a script relating to tackling social problems or a new future without social problems.
Cinematography
Creating their own movie, shot however you want to, adhering to the concept of a Social Fiction.
Poster Presentation
Awareness posters demonstrating the social problem and a reimagined reality without those problems.
Winning Reward
The best Social Fiction Idea will be awarded with
USD 10,000 Prize Money
Certificate of Recognition
for top participants.

The Social Business Design Competition is a global competition looking for youth-driven entrepreneurial solutions to combat some of the most pressing challenges of our time. Design your very own social business idea to solve a social or environmental issue in your community or around the world!
Online workshops on Social Business Planning
3-month Incubation Support to top 10 participants with 3 intensive boot camps on Social Innovation, Social Business Building, and Pitching.
Who can Apply?
You are an individual or a team of 5 with a creative but viable Social Business idea that solves any of the following issues: Environment and Climate Change, Micro-credit, Agriculture, Technology and Innovation, Waste, Circular Economy, Tourism, WASH, Employment, Sports, Health and Well-being.
You and your team members are between the ages 12 to 35.
You and your team members are students, alums, academics or researchers with an entrepreneurial solution in the form of an idea, a work-in-progress prototype or an early-stage startup.
Any social business enthusiasts.
