Celebrating Young Voices: The World Storytelling Competition for Kids (K–12)
In a world that thrives on creativity and communication, the World Storytelling Competition for Kids (K–12) emerges as a global stage where young voices can shine. This international event offers children the chance to explore the timeless art of storytelling, transforming words into a powerful tool for expression, connection, and discovery.
A Unique Platform for Expression
Open to students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, the competition invites participants to choose a story from a curated list tailored to their age group. After reading and understanding the story, children are encouraged to retell it in their own words—adding their own creative flair and personality. From imagination to narration, each child embarks on a journey that builds confidence, nurtures empathy, and sharpens communication skills.
At the heart of this initiative is a profound belief: Storytelling is more than just speaking—it’s a journey of self-expression and discovery. Through this experience, children not only improve their language skills but also develop a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives.
How to Participate
Participation begins with a simple registration process. After paying a nominal fee of INR 500, families receive a confirmation and transaction ID from Stripe. Children then record a clear, horizontally oriented video of their storytelling performance, keeping within the specified time limit.
Each video should begin with a five-second introduction that includes the child’s name, grade, school, city/state, and country, as well as the title of the story and the exclusive line:
“I am glad to be a part of GEMA World Storytelling Competition.”
Videos can be uploaded to YouTube (with the viewing set to public) or Google Drive (with universal view access). Once uploaded, participants must submit their video link and payment details through the competition form. It’s important to ensure that access permissions are set correctly, as inaccessible videos will be automatically disqualified.
Participants are also advised to use the full name of their school and branch to ensure accurate printing of certificates.
Recognition and Rewards
The competition is not only a celebration of storytelling talent but also a platform of recognition. Three winners in each category will receive a Trophy and Winners Certificate, while schools with over 50 participants will have School Level Winners recognized with similar honors. Every child who participates will be awarded a Participation Certificate, affirming their effort and creativity.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Storytellers
The World Storytelling Competition is more than a contest; it is a celebration of every child’s voice and imagination. Teachers, parents, and mentors are encouraged to support children in their journey, helping them discover the joy of storytelling and the confidence it brings.
