Saevus magazine, the country’s foremost nature and wildlife magazine organises the Eco Achievers Olympiad for school students
The Olympiad will cover topics like Plant life, Animal life, Environmental issues like Global warming and Climate change and have a section on our forests, sanctuaries and the parks of the country. The Olympiad does so in a in a manner that encourages the children to think, assimilate and develop a sense of responsibility towards the planet. Meritorious students are rewarded with ten lakhs worth of prizes, medals, trophies and media coverage.
Eligibility
Students of Standards 3rd to 10th of schools under CBSE, ICSE, IB and State boards can enrol for this Olympiad.
Format of the Olympiad
Overview
• There will be one round of Examination
• The national winners will be awarded at a special national ceremony.
Round – In schools
Date: 27th August / 24th September / 16th October
Format: Total marks for the examination: 70
Total time duration for the examination: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Negative marking: No
Venue: Respective schools
Breakup of questions:
SECTION I: OBJECTIVE
Duration: 1 hour
44 MCQ QUESTIONS: Each question bears 1 mark each;
there are 6 Leaf marked questions which bear 2 marks each.
Total marks for SECTION I is 50
SECTION II: SUBJECTIVE
Duration: 30 minutes
1 Picture Composition / Essay / Comprehension / Similar
Total marks for SECTION II is 20
The questions will fall under six categories:
1. Flora
2. Fauna
3. Terra
4. Aqua
5. Mental Aptitude
6. General Awareness
Application Procedure
Schools interested in participating may send an e-mail to olympiad.saevus@gmail.com orcontact the Saevus office at 022 – 49742301 / 02 to receive their registration forms.
Registered schools will receive a unique identification code from us for all communication thereafter. The Schools must then send us the class-wise list of students participating in the Olympiad within two weeks of registration.
Enrolled students will then be given their individual roll numbers.
Important Dates
- Dates for examination: 27th August / 24th September / 16th October
- Last date for registration and payment: 30 working days prior to chosen date of examination
- Declaration of results: 31 st December,2019 by 5 pm
- Regional award ceremony: January 2020
- National Award ceremony: February 2020
