Gotham Writers is calling on wordsmiths, linguists, and creative thinkers to invent a brand-new word that will enhance the English language. From Shakespeare to modern times, language has constantly evolved through innovation, and now, it’s time for a fresh addition!
How to Participate
- Invent an original word.
- Provide a one-sentence definition of the word.
- Use the word in a sentence to demonstrate its meaning.
Past Winning Examples
- Doddlenodding – The act of nodding in agreement when unsure of an explanation.
- Homefooling – Pretending to do remote schoolwork while actually playing video games.
Contest Details
- Deadline: February 28, 2025, by 11:59 PM ET.
- Entry Fee: Free.
- Word Limit: 70 words.
- Judging Criteria: Originality, quality, spelling, and grammar.
- Winner Announcement: Mid-March 2025.
