51st INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S EXHIBITION OF FINE ART LIDICE 2023

THEME:
The 51st ICEFA Lidice will be dedicated to the theme:

DANCE
Dance is a physical activity that can convey stories, emotions and moods without using words – like fine art. Dance is a means of human communication and has been a part of human culture since time immemorial. Already in the prehistoric age, people performed ritual dances to ensure a successful hunt or to win the favor of their gods.

Over time, dance has become a part of folk festivities and also of theatrical performances. Dancing can tell a story, express feelings or just be movement for joy. People dance together in groups, for an audience, with their loved ones or just by themselves. Dance is associated with rhythm, music, and often with beautiful and expressive costumes and dresses. The effect of dancing can be influenced not only by the dancers, but also by a choreographer or a scenographer, traditional dances often employ the work of a number of craftsmen and musicians.

Around us, we can also find dances in a figurative sense – a dance of colours and lights, a dance of planets, the dancing of shadows on the wall.

2023 International Poetry Competition by Friends of Falun Gong

Entries are invited for the Friends of Falun Gong Poetry Contest 2023.

Falun Gong
Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa) is an ancient cultivation way for improving mind and body. The practice’s most visible aspects are its five gentle exercises, including a meditation. They are highly effective ways to improve health and energy. Falun Gong practitioners also study spiritual teachings, taking them as a guide for daily life. At the core of these teachings are the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Falun Gong teaches that these are the fundamental qualities of the universe and that by assimilating into them, a person can improve both physical health and wisdom.

Friends of Falun Gong is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization founded in the year 2000 by concerned Americans.

The Contest
"Today, the communist government of China, the world’s largest nation, is attacking the basic freedom of thought and belief that have been a cornerstone of human civilization throughout history. As China’s influence continues to expand to everywhere from the NBA to organ transplantations to hi-tech products in our homes and hands, we must confront the inconvenient reality of a genocidal regime that is right now forcing its evil agenda on the world. We call on you—poets, writers, fellow human beings—help us expose the especially heinous crimes committed against a peaceful and law-abiding group of Chinese citizens: Falun Gong practitioners.

Read real accounts of persecution and speak out, using the powerful voice of poetry, for those who urgently need their voices to be heard.

This contest is an excellent opportunity for those who have never encountered Falun Gong before to read a bit and learn about it, and through yours words, raise awareness among others."

Submissions & Guidelines
Submit one or two poems of no more than 50 lines each. Poems must encompass at least one of the following themes:

Advocate for Falun Gong practitioners’ fundamental human rights.
Expose the crimes against Falun Gong perpetrated by the Chinese Communist Party.
Express why citizens of the free world should support Falun Gong’s rights
Traditional poetry with rhyme and meter is recommended but all styles and forms are welcomed. No profanity please. Poems should be submitted as a Word file or in the body of the email to fofgcompetitions@gmail.com by April 30, 2023, midnight EDT.
