Veer Gatha Project 4.0 – Honouring the Bravery of Gallantry Awardees

The Veer Gatha Project 4.0 is now open for participation, offering students across India the opportunity to creatively engage with the stories of India's gallantry award winners. Instituted in 2021 under the Gallantry Awards Portal (GAP), the project aims to inspire patriotism and civic consciousness by sharing the courageous acts of bravery of India's heroes.


About Veer Gatha Project

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) jointly launched this initiative to involve school students in meaningful projects that highlight the sacrifices of India’s gallantry award winners. Since its inception, Veer Gatha has seen remarkable success:

  • Veer Gatha 1.0 (2021-22): 8 lakh participants
  • Veer Gatha 2.0 (2022-23): 19.5 lakh participants
  • Veer Gatha 3.0 (2023-24): 1.37 crore participants

This year, Veer Gatha 4.0 will run from 17 September 2024 to 15 October 2024. Students can submit creative projects through mediums like poems, essays, paintings, drawings, and multimedia presentations to honour these brave hearts.

Who Can Participate?

All students from schools across India can participate in Veer Gatha 4.0, divided into the following categories:

  • Category 1: Class 3 to 5
  • Category 2: Class 6 to 8
  • Category 3: Class 9 to 10
  • Category 4: Class 11 to 12

Each school can submit a total of four best entries (one per category). Schools with a maximum class of 5, 8, or 10 can submit additional entries based on the highest class level in their school.

How to Submit Entries

After conducting the activities at the school level, each school is required to upload the best entry per category (a total of four entries) on the MyGov portal by 15 October 2024.

Evaluation Process

The project will have three levels of evaluation:

  1. District Level: Evaluations will be carried out by District Nodal Officers and the District Education Officer.
  2. State/UT Level: State Nodal Officers or SPDs will be responsible for evaluating entries at the state level.
  3. National Level: A National Evaluation Committee appointed by the Ministry of Education will oversee the final selection process.

Rewards and Recognition

Winners will be selected at each level:

  • District Level: 1 winner per category (4 total winners)
  • State/UT Level: 2 winners per category (8 total winners)
  • National Level (Super 100): 25 winners from each category (100 total winners)

Each national-level winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, along with a certificate awarded jointly by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education. Winners at the district and state levels will be felicitated by respective authorities.

Felicitation of National Winners

Winners at the national level will be honoured in a special felicitation ceremony, jointly organized by the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education.
