Amrita National Science Olympiad

National Science Olympiad (NSO) is a science project presentation competition organized by Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, for the school students. The aim of this competition is to make the students think on how to bridge the gap between science & technology. Higher Secondary and High School students are invited to participate in this unique competition to exhibit their ideas using their talents and creativity. Use of novel technology is a must. NSO is a team event. A shall comprise of students belonging to higher secondary or high school. Team shall be mentored by the teacher from the same school. A minimum of three students and a maximum of five students are allowed in a team.

Topics for 2019 Amrita National Science Olympiad
Following are the topics proposed for the NSO 2019 edition. Any ideas to solve any societal problem using science and technology that aligns with the theme are considered for submission.

Disaster Prevention & Warning Systems
Smart Farming & Agriculture
Smart Pollution Management
Smart Health Care
Artificial Intelligence for Common Man
Robotics for societal benefit
An integrated multi-modal transport system
Telecom Infrastructure for City
Multi-Modal Transport System
City Surveillance System for Security
Bridging Digital Divide – Integration with Akshaya (CSC)

Categories:
High School (7 – 9)
Higher Secondary School (10 – 12)

Registration:

Registration is FREE and compulsory to participate the final round of the event. 
For category 1, there shall be a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 team members.
For category 2, there shall be a minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 team members.
Team members and mentor shall present their identity proof if selected for the onsite round.
One teacher can have multiple teams.

Rules:

All team member shall be present & participate in the final demonstration, if selected, along with the mentor.
Proposal shall be submitted in the template uploaded in the website.
All the sections shall be complete in all aspects.
There shall be a teacher as mentor from the school of team members.
All the team members including the mentor shall be from the same school
All the abstracts are approved / rejected as and when it is received. There is no need to wait till the last date to submit the abstract. Only those abstracts accepted by the committee is moved to the next round.  

Important Dates
Last date to submit the proposal: September 14.

Registration starts on July 4, 2019.

Notification of selected projects: September 25.

Onsite event: October 30, 31.
