Standard Chartered Weather Photographer of the Year

The Royal Meteorological Society is inviting all photographers, amateur and professional, to submit their photographs for free by 18 June 2024.

Categories:
There are three categories: Main prize, Smartphone and Young for photographers aged under 18. Plus, a new Climate Award introduced for 2024, which will go to a photograph that best tells a compelling story about the impact of climate change.   

The competition is open to all ages and photographic abilities, attracting novices through to some of the best professional photographers. In addition to the main prize of £5,000, there are additional prizes of £2,500 for the Smartphone category and £750 for the under-18 category.  

hortlisted entries from the main and smartphone categories will be announced in mid-September. The public will then have the chance to vote for their favourite, and all the winners will be announced on 30 October 2024.

Entries open – Monday 15 April – Tuesday 18 June  
Weather Photography 101 Webinar – Tuesday 16 April, 7-8.30pm (BST) online  
Judging period – 19 June – 19 July   
Shortlist for Main and Smartphone categories announced – Thursday 19 September  
Public voting period – 19 September – 17 October  
All winners announced – Thursday 30 October
