PROMYS India
A challenging six-week residential mathematics summer programme, PROMYS India is open to mathematically talented secondary and higher secondary students (Standards IX - XII or equivalent). Meticulously selected students from across India will gather to immerse themselves in rigorous mathematics.
PROMYS India is closely modelled on its parent programme, Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists (PROMYS) which has been running at Boston University in the United States since 1989.
The PROMYS 2023 application is now open!
To be eligible, students must, by the start of the program, have completed at least 9th grade (or its equivalent) and be at least 14 years old. Unfortunately, there is no flexibility on these requirements. Students may attend during the summer between high school and college or during a gap year. Students who already attend university are not eligible to apply as students, although they may apply for a counselor position. PROMYS is particularly interested in increasing diversity in mathematics and in science and technology opportunities more broadly. PROMYS strongly encourages students to apply who are female, Black, Latinx or from other groups underrepresented in STEM.
For students in India: Applications to PROMYS India are open (application deadline: February 15). Closely modeled on PROMYS, the new offshoot program will run from May 7 to June 17, 2023 at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. All PROMYS India 2023 students will receive full scholarships including tuition, room & board, and travel. Now that PROMYS India has been launched, Mehta Fellowships will no longer be available for students in India. Students in India who would need financial assistance to attend PROMYS should apply to PROMYS India instead.
First-Year Student Application
The application deadline is March 5, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST. Please give yourself plenty of time to work on the problems and to write up your solutions! Many applicants give themselves weeks to think about the problems. PROMYS will email applicants with their admissions decision by early May 2023.
Applications to PROMYS are submitted through Submittable. Click on the To Apply button below and follow the simple instructions to create your password-protected account. You will be able to save your progress on the application before your final submission. The Submittable platform works best on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
