Junior Green Brain of the Year Contest 2015

21:49 0
METU NCC Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems Graduate Program, which has been established as a unique academic program in the Middle East to serve the most critical needs of our globe in the 21st century, proudly presents the Green Brain of the Year Contest. The contest has been devised to increase and enhance the international awareness of the Vital Triad: Sustainable Environment, Sustainable Energy, and Sustainable Water Resources among youth, specifically high school and university students.

Junior Green Brain of the Year Contest accepts submissions from high school students. The contest is also known as the International Concept Project Competition (ICPC), and emphasizes original concepts. The competitors are expected to form a team of two, come up with an original concept for a project to tackle a sustainability problem in support of the Vital Triad, and submit their work in a properly formatted (according to the provided ICPC guide) paper of up to 1000 words in English or Turkish. A limited number of figures and a table can be used to describe the addressed problem, the conceptualized solution as a system and/or a process flow. The electronic submissions through the ICPC web site will be evaluated by a jury panel based on:

  • Problem Relevance to Sustainability,
  • Originality, Feasibility, and Impact of Concept Solution,
  • Quality of Writing and Illustrations.

Green Brain of the Year Contest accepts submissions from university students. The contest is also known as the International Project Competition (IPC), and emphasizes original ideas which have been evaluated for feasibility. The competitors are expected to form a team of two, come up with an original project to tackle a sustainability problem in support of the Vital Triad, analyze feasibility, and submit their work in a properly formatted paper (according to the provided IPC guide) of up to 2000 words in English. A limited number of figures and tables can be used to describe the addressed problem, the solution as a system and/or a process flow, feasibility and results. The electronic submissions through the IPC web site will be evaluated by a jury panel based on:

  • Problem Relevance to Sustainability,
  • Originality, Feasibility, and Impact of Solution,
  • Verification of Feasibility through Analysis or Experimentation,
  • Quality of Writing and Illustrations.

The five finalist teams from both ICPC and IPC will be invited to METU NCC (all expenses paid) in September 2015 to present their project in front of the jury. The winner team will earn the title of “Junior Green Brain of the Year 2015” (ICPC) or “Green Brain of the Year 2015” (IPC). All finalists will attend a guided tour in Northern Cyprus. The first, second, and third runner-up team members will be rewarded a cash prize. (Both  team members have to do the presentations on the campus personally)

We would like to hereby invite talented high school and university students to submit their projects to IPC 2015, and start contributing ideas to a sustainable future for our beautiful globe.
