National Talent Search Exam For Class X Students NTSE 2015-16 : National Council of Educational Research & Training

The National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X is meant to identify and nurture talent. The examination is conducted every year at two levels:— Stage—l (State Level) and Stage—II (National Level).
Eligibility for applying for the State Level NTSE
Only those pupils who are studying in Class X during 2015-16 on any Government/Aided/Recognised schools/Kendriya Vidyalaya/Navodaya Vidyalaya in Kerala are eligible to apply for the State Level NTSE. Pupils who have secured not less than 55% for all non-language subjects in the qualifying examination of class IX of 2014-15 will be admitted.
Selection:
Stage-l, selection will be done by States/UTs and those who qualify Stage- I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.
Qualifying Marks:
Qualifying marks for candidates from General category is 40% in each paper and for candidates from SC, ST, PH is 35% in each paper.
Language Test Qualifying in nature and marks obtained for Language Test will not be counted for final merit.
Schedule
Stage-l (State):
Last Date for Submission of Application Form – To be notified by the respective State and it may vary from state to state.
Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands -7th November, 2015 (Saturday)
Examination in All other States and Union Territories 8th November, 2015 (Sunday)
Stage-ll (National) :
Examination in All States and Union Territories -8th May, 2016 (Sunday)
Procedure of the Test at State Level (Kerala)
The test will be conducted in Two Parts of 90 minutes duration each.
Part I - Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) will comprise of 90 objective type questions from Social sciences, Science subjects and Mathematics.
Part II consists of Mental Ability Test - MAT & Language Comprehensive Test. There will be 50 Questions in Mental Ability Test and 40 question in Language comprehension Test (40 questions in Malayalam Language and 40 questions in English Language). Candidates can choose either Malayalam or English for
Language comprehension Test.
Marks scored for language comprehension test will not be considered for ranking.
But candidates must score a minimum for 40% marks in Language Comprehensive Test.
All questions in Part II are also of objective type

Portions included for the State Level Test under Part I are as follows.
a. 9th & 10th Standard portions of Kerala State syllabus for the current academic  year.
b. 9 th & 10th standard portions of CBSE syllabus for the current academic year.
c. Certain portions studied on lower classes which are essential for the proper understanding of the subjects. The question will be of higher order involving application and reasoning.
The candidate should answer Part I and then Part II after an interval of one hour.
Candidate can choose English, Malayalam, Tamil or Kannada as medium of Examination for SAT & MAT.
(i) Part I: SAT I consists of 90 objective type questions in Social sciences, Science subjects & Mathematics.
9 am to 10.30 am All candidates except disabled candidates
9 am to 11 am Disabled candidates only
Part II MAT & Language Comprehenstion test consist of 90 objective type questions
11.30 am to 01.00 pm All candidates except disabled candidates
11.30 am to 01.30 pm Disabled candidates only
How to apply
Pupils are directed to apply Online.
Do not apply online more than one time. If correction is necessary click ‘Online application Editing.’ Then enter your application ID and application Number and do the necessary corrections.
After necessary corrections confirm your application. After confirmation editing is not possible.
After confirmation click submit and get the hardcopy of your online application.
The hard copy of the online application should be accompanied by 
a. The original DD for Rs. 100/- in favour of the Director SCERT drawn on or before 25th September 2014 payable at SBT service branch Thiruvananthapuram (SC/ST/BPL categories are exempted from fees).
b. Students belonging SC/ST/BPL categories should send the photocopy of the caste/BPL certificate.
c. Physically challenged candidates must produce a medical certificate from the competetent authority that the candidate suffers from 40% or more as per the PWD Act 1995.
