Bhalabhumi-Cubix Team Little Masters 2013 Contest

Balabhumi in association with Cubix Group is organising a contest to identify the talented school students.
Students from 8 to 13 years of age can participate.

The first stage will be held at the district level.  The five winners of the district level will compete at the final stage as one team. The final will be held at Glora Fantasia Amusement Park, Vengad, Valanchery, Malappuram.

Innovation Forum: Earth Day 2013 - Competition by TERI and Sanjay Dutt Production

TERI is producing a feature film in association with Sanjay Dutt Production. The film will focus on inventions made by common man to enhance their standard of living and to optimally utilize the scarce resources. Against this background and as a run up to the Earth Day 2013, the Educating Youth for Sustainable Development Division at TERI launches a school competition called “Innovation Forum” a joint association of TERI and Sanjay Dutt Production, which aims at inviting interesting and out of the box innovative ideas that can be used in the feature film.

The competition will be open from 01 – 20 April 2013

Winners will be chosen by the esteemed panel of judges including the Director of this Film. The inventions used in the film will also be given due credit and the winners will be felicitated before the launch of the film. Completed entries can be forwarded to TERI by e-mail, fax or by post before due date, and the participants will get certificate of participation.

Instructions for the ‘Innovation Forum’ competition

Please read the instructions below, before appearing for the “Innovation Forum” competition:
The Competition is divided into two categories; you can choose anyone of the following.

DO NOT forget to mention the category you have chosen in your answer sheets.
i) Innovative ideas that can be asset to our day-to-day life, at home, etc.
ii) Innovative ideas that help the neighborhood

The Innovation forum competition is conducted at two levels:
i) Level 1: Classes 6-8: Students are expected to write 500 words on any
one of the category chosen above
ii) Level 2: Classes 9-12: Students are expected to write 1000 words on any one of the category chosen above

The body of your write up should be able to answers the following questions:
 What are the invention/ innovative idea?
 Who all will be the primary users of the invention?
 What does the invention do?
 Where will the invention be used?
 When can one use this invention?
 Why is this invention important?
 How does one exactly use the invention?

Please think out of the box, creative and wacky ideas that can help in effective utilization of scarce resource. Run of the mill stuff will not be accepted.

Please note, information/idea that has been taken from "internet‟ or any other media source will not be considered.

The „Innovation Forum‟ competition is live from 1st – 20th April 2013. Please send at least 10 entries (individual) from your school (by mail/post/fax) latest by 20 April 2013.

Max Life Insurance – igenius Young Authors' Hunt

The igenius Young Authors’ Hunt is open for all children between ages 8-15, studying in government recognized schools including private, public or national open schools all over India. There are 2 categories: Juniors (Age 8-12 years) & Seniors (Age 12-15 years). Children of Max Life Insurance Employees and Agent advisors who qualify as per the criteria above are also eligible to participate in the Young Authors' Hunt.

The programme duration is from January 14, 2013 till November 31, 2013.

Last Date for Registration: The registration for the igenius Junior and Senior programme excluding school contact programme will be open from 10 am on January 14, 2013 to midnight on April 30, 2013. Entries received after the closing of the registration period shall not be considered and the same will be invalid. The Creative Writing Submissions (Essay/ Short Story) will start from 10 am on January 24, 2013 and will continue till midnight on May 20, 2013.


No participation or any other fee is required to be paid for participating in the programme.

Categories
There are two categories (i) igenius Junior: ages 8-12 years (ii) igenius Senior: ages 12-15 years. The category to which the participant will belong will be determined by the Date of Birth of the participant.

Rounds


Round 1(Registration and creative writing submissions)
The registration for the igenius Junior and Senior programme excluding school contact programme will be open from 10 am on January 14, 2013 to midnight on April 30, 2013.

The Creative Writing Submissions (Essay/ Short Story) will start from 10 am on January 24, 2013 and will continue till midnight on May 20, 2013.

Round 2(On the spot creative writing)
Those short-listed participants from Round 1 across all media will have to appear for Round 2 Creative Writing Submission in July 2013. They will have to appear in person at pre-defined venues at cities mandated by MAX LIFE at their own expense. The details and the schedule for same shall be informed to the participants. Those qualifying would also be required to provide the proof of their academic credentials.

Round 3(Grand Finale)
Shortlisted participants qualifying for Round 3 will have to take part in the Grand Finale in September 2013. The reasonable costs of travel, boarding and lodging of the participant and one parent/ guardian of such participant for Round 3 will be borne by MAX LIFE .

Please note that the dates as mentioned are only tentative and may be changed subject to a notice of the same, which will be published on.

Prizes

Grand First Prize: 40 top creative writings to be published in a book by Rupa Publications India and a Kindle e-reader Wi-Fi

Second Prize: Next 60 creative writings to be published in a children's publication or an igenius e-book and 60 Young Authors' Scholarships worth Rs 5000/- each

Consolation Prizes: 400 Children's Book Hampers.

There are 1000 Early Bird Prizes (a Ruskin Bond book autographed by him) for participants who submit the first 1000 original and valid Creative Writing Submission.
